Digital Photography: Up Close

Digital Photography CloseIt is true that technology has changed our lives forever; it has changed the very way we look at life itself. Digital photography is considered to be one of those remarkable and prominent changes that changed the way we used to photograph, forever. No longer do we need films for every setting and keep extra films just in case we run out of it in the middle of a shoot, but rather all we need are a battery, a battery charger and a memory card.

The huge advantages that digital photography has brought into the field of photography are monumental. Imagine the labors of the early photographers with film cameras, who had to wait for a single shot all day and when the shot was taken by him, he had no idea about the actual quality of the picture he just took. He had to wait for his entire film to be finished and then developed to even get a look at what he captured. Compare this condition to the advantage of the modern photographer, who takes as many shots as he likes and if he feels like it, he can look at them immediately on the LCD screen of his digital camera. Digital photography has indeed advanced the field of photography to a great level.

Your preference would further tilt towards a digital photography as you realize that you can do more with your photos if you shoot them with a digital camera than a film camera. You ca not edit a film photo in the same way that you can edit a digital photo, not even close to it. You can change or manipulate the background, crop your image to exclude the unwanted parts, tinker with the exposure, contrast, brightness and what not! The tremendous opportunity to improve every aspect of your photo is something that has helped photographers do thing that would be otherwise impossible.

There are certain other meanings to the term digital photography other than what I mentioned above, for example, if you scan a film photo into your computer, it will have a digital format and thus be considered a digital photo as well. The primary meaning of digital photography is of course capturing an image with the help of a digital camera.

Digital photography allows you not only to edit your images better, but also the options available while you shoot with your digital camera are much wider in aspect also. You can adjust anything from the white balance to the color level to the shutter speed and that is a great boon, especially for the professional photographers. The digital format of photography thus has made photography much more convenient for both the average user and the professional photographer.
